The start of ZEN & ZEN is simple: it began with truly awful sleep. Our founder was constantly plagued by night overheating and those disruptive, relentless midnight wake-ups, especially during pregnancy. Like so many hot sleepers, the first quick fix was desperation—resorting to borrowed, ill fitting items, often those loose, old shirts pulled from a partner's closet. Anything to grab a sliver of coolness.
That personal, sticky frustration led us to question the sleepwear market. We quickly saw the industry was saturated with empty promises and huge compromises. We all know the drill: you try thin fabrics like conventional cotton, thinking they’re the cool solution. But these materials are flimsy; they fail to manage moisture, leaving you feeling damp, and worst of all, they rapidly lose their soft, structural quality after just a few washes. Delivering true, lasting comfort meant accepting nothing currently available.
Rejecting compromise meant searching globally for a premium, sustainable fiber engineered for true sleep integrity. We required dynamic microclimate control: exceptional breathability and lasting durability that regulates temperature, adapting to keep us comfortably cool or perfectly warm as our body needs it. We finally found it.
